No it’s not your traditional love story of blind, reckless romance but rather a story about the love between two men who have a great deal of respect for each other. It was after seeing Shawshank for the first time that I realized all movies are love stories.
I have yet to come across one that isn’t.

My favorite book would have to be Kaye Gibbons “A Virtuous Woman”.

It is a very short book you can read it in just a few hours. What I love about it is how it reaches out and captures the beauty of a human love story rather than a Hollywood generated, knight in shinning armor, yea right love story.

So what inspired this little post? The plethra of ‘BrokeBack Mountain’ parodies that are popping up everywhere.
I haven’t seen ‘Brokeback mountain’ yet but I’m really looking forward to it.
I do feel somewhat guilty for enjoying all the jokes and jabs at such a serious matter. My father is a staunch Gay rights supporter and has always taken offense to comedic jabs at something that is so painful for so many.
So if I’ve offended I’m sincerely sorry.
But as the T-shirt reads ‘If you can’t take a joke….then Fuck You’

In Teusday’s (Dec 20, 2005) Yahoo! News from Reuters, a German child-porn collector got busted! He got hit with the Sober worm in his e-mailbox, saying he was ‘under investigation’, so he decided to turn himself in. He’s now in custody. Click the link to get a few more details.

OK, malware is not a good thing in general, but for once, we get to give a small thanks to the jackass who infected so many computers with malicious code before we start cursing the name of his mother again. The virus author can rot in hell, but let him have an ice cube once a century or so.

The worst crime oyu can commit against a human being is to make them think.

On one facet, this woman is right in pointing out that driving while using a cell phone does make things more dangerous. This has been established. On the other hand, I don’t believe her assumption that the advertisement encourages the acceptance of “chatting and driving”. People are going to use their cells unless the law says otherwise. And even then, we’ve seen how that’s not 100% effective with seat belts or motorcycle helmets. Still, this woman is trying to do something she believes will make her community a better place, and you gotta respect that.

Elitist

Elitist thinking plays a major roll in the perpetuation of the failed drug war. The temporary escape of drugs from a life filled with difficulty, poverty, hate and self-loathing is truly intoxicating. For the desperately poor the money from drug sales is an equally intoxicating temptation.

For lives devoid of these miseries the problem is distant and hard to understand. The old expression “driven to drink” is just a colloquialism to most elitists. They are not tempted to risk all that they have with illegal drugs. To them it is nothing more than weakness. They see a difference between taking their prescribed Valium to cope with the stress in their lives and a homeless man smoking a joint under a bridge for the same reason.

Drug abuse is not choosing between lawfulness and criminality, it is choosing a fleeting alternative to despair over the relative slight possibility of punishment in a free society. No matter how draconian these punishments the abuse of drugs continues, as does human misery. Difficult lives become impossible, not because of drugs but because of the drug war.

The elitists see only laws, crime, and punishment. They do not see their position in life as superior they see themselves as superior. They then use their superior position with the government to visit even more misery on the miserable. If these elitists are truly superior then why can they not see how wrong they are?

Things can be one way one day and completely different the next. One minute I keep hoping he’ll show up at the door and I can hold him and not let go, the next I just want to kick him in the ass! Kick every deacon of every church who said they’d help and call me back can go to hell. Did I stutter? Did I make that clear? They can go to fucking hell! Is that eloquent enough? No. I’m so scared. How can a man do that? The reason the alpha male is dying is because they’re a completely useless breed.

There are good people in this world. I know three. Mike, Denise, and Ursula. (Editor’s note: Mike is Fluxxdog aka Fluxxy. I’m helping her out by typing this because she’s quite distraught. Keep your fingers crossed, folks. Let’s hope for the best.)

UPDATE: I’ve decided to do nothing or at least I can’t post it here.

We started with our weekly DVD toss. I actually didn’t know it had a name but apparently when you go through the large bin of crappy DVD’s on the hopes of finding a decent one it’s called “DVD tossing”. Normally a large pile at the other end builds until DVD’s start hitting the floor and you quickly walk away. Thank you Mike for teaching me this, no seriously thank you.
We were successful in our search and found ‘The Dark Crystal’ and ‘Dogma’,
we both did a little dance and headed to electronics. While in electronics I learned that if I’m going to buy a flash drive it needs to be at least 1GB and that the main character in the game “Devil may cry” is hot and I’m a freak for thinking this.

Fluxxy got his chair, I got my DVD’s and socks for my husband.

DVD tossing is not the only thing I’ve learned this week. I also learned about the term “getting some strange”. I still think this is something my husband has made up. It refers to hooking up with a stranger. An example would be “I got me some strange last night” or “I’d like to get me some of that strange”. I’m told everyone knows this yet no one has ever used it around me. I thinks that’s a good thing.

This wasn’t the first time a common saying slipped by me for years without notice. “Cheaper to keep her” is another example, I’m still pissed about that one.
