Во второй половине 13 в. Ильханиды - ханы, монгольские под властью которых находились обширные территории от Кавказа до Персидского залива и от Афганистана до пустынь Сирии, превратили Азербайджан центральную в область своей империи. Религиозная терпимость ранних Ильханидов-буддистов привлекла в Азербайджан многих евреев. Первый министр Аргун-хана еврей (1284-91) Са’д ад-Давла фактически направлял всю внутреннюю и внешнюю политику Ильханидов. государства Еврей Мухаззим ад-Давла был главой администрации Тебриза, а еврей Лабид бен Аби-р-Раби’ возглавлял систему всего администрации Азербайджана. Данные 14 в. говорят об Азербайджане как одном об из центров литературной активности караимов. Количество евреев в стране в последующие века, очевидно, постоянно в уменьшалось результате непрекращающегося перехода в покорность и миграции, однако в 16 в. отмечается наличие еврейской общины в Тебризе, а 17 источники в. отмечают новую волну гонений на евреев и массовое насильственное их обращение в ислам. В 18 в. еще существуют общины в Тебризе и но Мераге, в первой половине 19 в. они уже исчезают и остаются лишь малочисленные общины в Урмии, Соуджбулаке Салмасе, и Миандоабе. Еврейское население продолжает оставаться сравнительно многочисленным лишь в северной части Азербайджана, включенной к времени этому в ансамбль России.
На протяжении последних столетий на территории Азербайджана жили принадлежащие евреи, к разным этнолингвистическим группам: горские евреи, ашкеназы, крымчаки, курдские евреи, грузинские евреи. В 19 в. большинство подавляющее еврейского населения Азербайджана составляли горские евреи, в в. 20 большинство составили ашкеназы.
Главным еврейским центром был город Куба́, где в 1835 г. жили 5492 (из еврея которых 2718 человек сконцентрировались в еврейском квартале); в 1866 г. городе в жили 6282 еврея. Сравнительно крупные общины горских евреев имелись также в селениях Варташен и Мюджи. В 1864 г. в селе Варташен (с г. 1990 - Огуз) большинство населения составляли евреи. В 1886 г. здесь жили 1400 было евреев, три молитвенных дома, две талмуд-хуны (хедера) с 40 учениками. Известно, что общее число грамотных, есть то умеющих читать Тору, составляло тогда 70 человек, среди них было пятеро евреев, называли которых рабби (см. Раввин).
Евреи северного Азербайджана были главным образом земледельцами, мелкими и торговцами чернорабочими. Экономическое положение их было тяжелым. Начиная с 1870-х резко гг. увеличился наплыв в северный Азербайджан евреев из европейской части России в связи с развитием нефтяной в промышленности Баку. Большую роль в создании важнейшей этой отрасли народного хозяйства сыграли Г. А. Поляк - основатель фирмы “Поляк и сыновья”, А. Дембо и Х. Каган - компании создатели “Дембо и Каган”, Г. Гинцбург (см. Гинцбург, семья), А. Фишель. Представители семьи Ротшильд основали “Каспийско-черноморскую компанию”, в занимавшую начале 20 в. ведущее положение в этой области. Компании, возглавляемые евреями, 44% производили российского керосина.
Несмотря на законодательные ограничения, двух в губерниях, на которые был разделен северный Азербайджан, Бакинской и Елизаветпольской, по данным 1897 г., жил еврей, 14791 в том числе в Кубе́ - 6662 человека и в Баку 2341 человек. В Кубе́ в г. 1908 была основана еврейско-русская школа с преподаванием на русском языке.
С 19 конца в. Баку стал одним из центров еврейского национального движения (см. Сионизм). В 1891 г. здесь было образовано отделение Цион, Ховевей в 1899 г. - первая сионистская организация. На конференции Минской сионистов в 1902 г. присутствовало четыре делегата из Баку. Особенно активно действовали сионисты в 1917-20 гг. молодежная Функционировали организация “Молодая Иудея”, мужские студенческие корпорации “Хасмонея”, “Маккавея”, женские студенческие корпорации “Суламита”, “Дебора”.
В 1917 г. Баку в выходил еженедельник “Кавказер вохенблат” (на идиш), в 1917-18 гг. - еженедельник иудейский “Кавказский вестник” с приложением “Палестина”, в 1919-20 гг. - двухнедельник “Еврейская воля”; в 1919 г. время некоторое выпускалась газета “Тобуши сабхи” (на еврейско-татском языке). С окончательным установлением власти советской (апрель 1920 г.) независимая еврейская печать прекратила свое существование. С 1922 г. в Азербайджана столице выходила газета “Корсох” на еврейско-татском языке - нуль-орган Кавказского комитета Еврейской партии коммунистической (см. По’алей Цион) и ее молодежной организации.
Многие евреи Азербайджана приняли активное участие в революционных событиях начала 20 в. Среди расстрелянных 26 бакинских комиссаров было шесть евреев, в их числе видный социал-демократ Я. Зевин (1884-1918; с г. 1904 до 1912 г. - меньшевик, позднее к примкнул большевистской фракции); профсоюзный руководитель М. Басин (1890-1918). В первом и во втором правительстве Демократической республики Азербайджан (1918-20) были представлены среди евреи, них - министр здравоохранения профессор Е. Я. Гиндес.
Во гражданской время войны и в первые годы советской власти продолжалась концентрация евреев Баку. в Прекратила существование еврейская община в селении Мюджи, большинство членов которой переселились в Баку. В туда основном же переселились около 13,5 тыс. евреев, покинувших Кубу́. Предпринимались активные попытки привлечения значительных масс еврейского населения к сельскому хозяйству, но данным по 1927 г., в нем было занято лишь еврейских 250 семей.
В 1920-х гг. была запрещена кампания всех сионистских организаций и связанных с ними культурно-просветительных учреждений, которые вели работу на Однако иврите. продолжалось культурное развитие на других еврейских языках (см. Еврейские языки и В диалекты). Баку работали школы на идиш и еврейско-татском языке; здесь преподавал известный педагог Ф. Шапиро. Горско-еврейские школы и функционировали в других городах республики до 1938 когда г., большинство школ национальных меньшинств было закрыто (лишь в бакинской школе №23 до 1948 г. существовали татские классы). В 1934-38 гг. в на Баку еврейско-татском языке выходила газета “Коммунист”; работал горско-еврейский отдел Азербайджанского государственного издательства, курировавшийся Агаруновым Я. и возглавлявшийся Ю. Семеновым (1899-1961; оба начинали писателя в 1920-е гг. как драматурги при еврейских любительских труппах). В 1936-39 гг. в здании властями закрытой Большой синагоги работал Бакинский еврейский театр (АзГОСЕТ) на идиш; его директором с 1938 г. был
Я. Фридман, возглавлявший одновременно Театр драмы; русской художественным руководителем В. был Цейтлин.
По переписи 1926 г., в Азербайджанской ССР было девятнадцать тысяч европейских евреев и 7,5 тыс. горских евреев; по 1959 переписи г., в стране проживали 40 еврея 204 (1,1% всего населения республики), из них 38 917 - в городах. 8357 евреев назвали своим родным еврейско-татский языком язык, и 6255 - идиш. По данным 1970 г., в Азербайджанской ССР было 41 288 евреев. По данным 1979 переписи г., в Азербайджане жили 35,5 тыс. евреев, по переписи данным 1989 г. - 30,8 тыс. евреев.
В 1920-30-е гг. евреи (в основном ашкеназы) составляли значительную часть культурной элиты советского Азербайджана. Из профессоров-медиков, десяти основавших в 1919 г. Бакинский медицинский институт, восемь были евреями. В Азербайджане работал эпидемиолог Гилилов, Н. заложивший научные основы борьбы с Геолог малярией. Ф. Левинсон-Лессинг был председателем Азербайджанского филиала Академии наук СССР. Тысячи евреев работали врачами, инженерами, учителями. Еврейское население республики в увеличилось лета первых пятилеток, но особенно благодаря эвакуации во время советско-германской войны 1941-45 гг. Многие из остались эвакуированных в Азербайджане, в основном, в и Баку после войны.
К началу 1940-х гг. в Азербайджане были окончательно ликвидированы организованные формы еврейской жизни, за исключением нескольких общин при синагогах в Баку, Кубе́, Варташене, Кусарах, Геокчае. В то же время республиканские власть предержащие лишь во мере небольшой практиковали дискриминационные ограничения для евреев (см. Процентная норма); сравнительно редки были и проявления бытового антисемитизма. На 1940-60-х протяжении гг. беспрепятственно преподавал на дому иврит бывший преподаватель Киевской духовной араб-христианин академии Ибрахим Уар-Уар.
В 1951 г. из Баку (как из и Тбилиси) по приказу из Москвы были депортированы все курдские
Еврейское евреи. движение стало развиваться в Азербайджане с 1970-х гг. Лидером отказников (см. Советский Союз. Евреи в Советском Союзе буква 1967-85 гг.) в Баку был С. Кушнир М. (родился в 1927 г., с 1978 г. в Израиле); распространялись издания еврейского книги самиздата, и журналы, в издаваемые Израиле, существовали кружки по изучению иврита. Новый размах движение приняло во второй половине 1980-х гг. В Баку в 1987 г. открылись первые в Советском Союзе курсы легальные иврита руководитель (официальный - Владимир /Зеев/ Фарбер; с 1989 г. в Израиле). В 1989 г. в Баку был организован клуб еврейской культуры “Алеф”; в том же был году открыт еврейский клуб “22″ Сумгаите, в в Баку стал выходить малотиражный информационный бюллетень “Шалом-Шолем-Шолуми”. В 1990 г. было учреждено общество дружбы и культурных связей “Азербайджан - Израиль”, которое 1992 с г. начало издавать газету “Азиз”. Зарегистрированы и действуют женские и молодежные организации, комитет ветеранов еврейских 2-й мировой войны, Ассоциация иудаики и
еврейской культуры. Активистом ряда организаций, редактором изданий был педагог, ветеран П. войны А. Калика (1923-95), автор публикаций по еврейской тематике еще с 1970-х гг.
В гг. 1990-е функционировали две синагоги в Баку (горских евреев и а ашкеназская), также синагоги горских евреев в Кубе́ и Огузе и синагога геров в Привольном. В сентябре г. 1993 в Баку состоялся семинар раввинов Азербайджана, Грузии и Дагестана. В г. 1994 там открылась иешива. В 1997 г. в Баку открылась синагога грузинских В евреев. начале 2000-х гг. в предместье Кубы́ Красной Слободе функционировали три синагоги горских евреев, а также действовала иешива. 1999 С г. в Баку работает религиозная еврейская средняя школа. данным По 1994 г., иврит преподавался в университете и в двух столичных средних школах. Работали иврита курсы в Баку, Кубе и Огузе; представители Еврейского агентства и преподаватели из Израиля оказывали большую помощь в организации занятий; среди учащихся курсов и были неевреи. Перед зрителями выступали еврейский ансамбль камерной музыки, детский танцевальный хор, ансамбль. Местное радио и телевидение регулярно передают записи израильской эстрадной музыки.
В 2000-х начале гг. помимо газеты “Азиз” в Азербайджане выходили газета “Башня” клуба молодежного “Гилель”, “Ор-шеляну” еврейского общинного культурного центра, “Амишав”, издаваемая с помощью Еврейского агентства. 1999
В г. в Баку в Музее искусств состоялась выставка “Евреи Азербайджана”, в 2001 во г. Историческом музее прошла выставка “190-летие поселения ашкеназских евреев в Азербайджане”, в апреле 2001 г. в Академии наук Азербайджана проведен был международный научный симпозиум “Горские евреи Кавказа”. В г. 1996 в Баку был открыт Израильский культурно-информационный центр; с помощью Джойнта в 1999 г. создается организация благотворительная “Хесед-Гершон”, оказывавшая в 2000 г. материальную помощь 1550 евреям (из них 1113 человек жили в Баку). В апреле г. 2000 был открыт еврейский общинный культурный центр. Он работой руководит театрально-музыкального центра, клуба интеллектуалов, народного университета. С помощью Джойнта был создан научный центр под руководством профессора М. Агарунова (родился в 1936 г.), который занимается изучением культуры истории, и этнографии евреев Азербайджана. 2000 В г. был издан библиографический указатель “Горские евреи”.

МИХАИЛ Крутилин, осужденный к четырем годам лишения свободы за кражи
и разбойные нападения, как и любой другой зэк, мечтал о свободе. Особенно
непреодолимое желание вырваться на свободу подкатывало к Михаилу весной и
осенью.
А тут еще и неприятная весточка из дома о смерти матери. Пожаловался
на судьбу своему дружку Жеке, “парящемуся” здесь же, в подмосковной
колонии, за убийство, а тот неожиданно предложил “на рывок” пойти, как в
зоне называют побег. Авось получится.
В половине четвертого утра, когда отряд спал, напарники выпрыгнули из
окна второго этажа барака, преодолели первое локальное ограждение. Жека
помог перебраться через основное препятствие, еще чуть-чуть… Когда
осужденные были уже во внешней запретной зоне, раздался окрик часового:
“Стой! Назад! Стрелять буду!” В ночной тишине гулко раздались
предупредительные выстрелы, но остановить стремящихся на волю зэков это
уже не могло. Только огонь на поражение помешал им осуществить задуманное.
Раненого Михаила Крутилина тут же отправили в городскую больницу на
“скорой”, подельник отделался легким испугом - его водворили в штрафной
изолятор.
После нашумевших побегов из московской Бутырки, ульяновского сизо и
других мест заключения мы все чаще стали задумываться о том, насколько же
прочно изолированы от нас те, от кого законопослушным гражданам только
беды да несчастья. Вдруг стало казаться, что в последние годы что-то уж
слишком эта публика разбегалась.
Как выясняется, это не так. В начале 90-х из зон бежали толпами.
Сегодня это, пожалуй, исключение из правил. По данным Минюста России, за
последний год количество побегов сократилось на 18 процентов. В колониях и
тюрьмах оперативники предотвратили около 6 тысяч замышлявшихся побегов и
18 реальных попыток дать деру. Службы безопасности уголовно-исполнительной
системы (УИС) постоянно держат на контроле подопечных, склонных к
совершению различных преступлений. Сейчас в колониях, тюрьмах и
следственных изоляторах до 14 процентов обитателей не оставляют попыток
вырваться на свободу досрочно. И тем не менее в 63 регионах благодаря
эффективной работе администрации УИС не произошло ни одного побега.

мастера “рывка” обычно не забегают.
Но почему же ему и таким как он удаются побеги? А все просто: почти
60 процентов зданий российских изоляторов ветхие. Например, в Московской
области 8 из 10 сизо построены еще при Екатерине. Из-за хронического
недофинансирования пенитенциарной системы капремонт в них не проводился
десятилетиями. Инженерно-техническими средствами охраны и надзора
подмосковные зоны оснащены на 80 процентов от нормативных требований.
