I discovered this evening that someone was hotlinking to an image on my site.
I’m a little ashamed to say that I’m having a ball with the power this gives me.
For those who don’t know, If you link to an image from someone else’s site and display it on yours or anywhere else it’s called hotlinking and is a form of bandwidth theft. It also gives someone else the power to change said image to what ever they like, which is exactly what I did. I figure since I’m paying for the bandwidth I minus well take advantage of it and advertise.

Great subject Fluxxy.
I agree the prospect of a paycheck is what drives us all to one degree or another. The creative arts are no different than any other corporate venture with one very large exception. A person in their creative prime outputting what their soul is feeling is pure beauty, a gift to us all.
Some will later choose to profit monetarily from their creation or had planned on it from the onset. I can’t blame them.
Technical creativity is no different than creating music, paintings or cinematics.
Creating games be it board, arcade, console or PC can be as painstaking and artful as using a canvass and paint.
The utensils have matured but the human condition is the same.
When we feel pain and desperation we produce a game like Grand theft or a painting like A starry Night. when we feel sexy and amorous we choose to design lingerie, paint ballerinas like Degas, or choose to shake our moneymaker on MTV.
Yes the Entertainment industry IN AMERICA is pushing the limits because we’ve made it so Taboo. Our natural urges and desires are what make us human. Americans are lost and confused. If we stopped judging our fellow mans morality and instead embraced him, loved him and forgave him there would be no envelope to push, no taboo.
WXIA 11Alive.com - ACLU Releases Government Photos
“The ACLU of Georgia released copies of government files on Wednesday that illustrate the extent to which the FBI, the DeKalb County Division of Homeland Security and other government agencies have gone to compile information on Georgians suspected of being threats simply for expressing controversial opinions.”
I read this article pretty carefully and as open-minded as I could. My opinion didn’t change. The right-wing conservative powers care nothing for our civil liberties or our judicial processes.
The worst part is they’re only able to accomplish such arrogance with the majorities help.
The majority being Americans scared of they’re own Freedom. To be free and have free-will would require one to take responsibility for their actions and their futures. No one to blame for their failures or miscalculations.
I’ve just hooked up my new pc and the anxiety is overwhelming!! Everything is different, the font, the screen resolution, the icons their size and color tone, the speed of the mouse which I keep adjusting but just can’t get right.
Isn’t this supposed to be a joyful experience? What’s wrong with me.
I think it’s about time we all start talking about the pains and anxieties of introducing a new PC into our homes.
This cold stranger with the new and clean keyboard, no sticking buttons, none at all.
No pictures or videos that you’re scared the kids might find.
No Bookmarks!!! must I copy EVERYTHING I loved about my old PC, the one I affectionately referred to as “My Whore”.
My husband keeps referring to this PC as “My New Whore”, But that just feels wrong.
I’m going to ask Mr. Smirnoff and I’ll let ya’ll know what he says………….To Be Continued
Is the entertainment industry pushing the limits, have we redefined the limits, or are they simply trying out a new approach?
Entertainment is art, and vice versa. Shade it anyway you want, it’s the truth. Whether they’re trying to please visual, aural, or other senses, art’s main purpose is to entertain and make money. Michaelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, Beethoven’s Fifth, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Gone with the Wind, the Rolling Stone, etc. etc. etc. All of it done more or less to make money.
With that in mind, we have to look at what mainstream entertainment is today. Movies, music, TV shows, and video games. Now, that last one might trip people out. Games as art? Think of the work put into it. Even from the days of Pong, visual and audio effects had to be prepared, all to combine into one unique experience.
Times change, and so does the art/entertainment. Do the two reflect one another? The latest trend seem to be more and more what they can get away with. People will cite left and right Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as a perfect example (if for no other reason than that whole “Hot Coffee” fiasco). The game was bad enough by “moral” standards, though the technology and effeort put into it was phenomenal. Indeed, it was one of the biggest money makers last year. Why? Because what they did, though a sequel, was more gritty than “Barbie Horse Adventures.”
That being said, is this a sign of the norm to come? Will the entertainment industry cater more to the “undesired” element of society? Or perhaps they’re just exploring new avenues of creativity given that so much out there has been done already? Or is the entertainment industry actually reflecting what we’re becoming anyway? We have so much of the “bad stuff” being so good for pockets, there has to be a reason.
What’s your take on this? Is the entertainment industry pushing the limits, have we redefined the limits, or are they simply trying out a new approach?
- I haven’t posted a Half-Nekkid Thursday picture since Thanksgiving. Even with the break I was kinda stumped for an original idea for my picture, I took a few but wasn’t real happy with them.
Imagine my glee when I downloaded them and discovered someone had left me a surprise in my camera..
Thank you for the laugh honey.
And Congrats on your first Half-Nekkid Thursday!!!

During one of my recent attempts to finish my blog redesign, I stumbled upon what is called ElectricSheep. It’s a screen saver program that connects to a network of other users once your PC goes into hibernation. The user can submit a fractal Flame image that they refer to as a dream, a PC Dream.
So what is a Fractal flame Image?
Fractal Flames are algorithmically generated images and animations. The software was originally written in 1992 and released as open source, aka free software. Since then it has developed a lot. It has been incorporated into many graphics programs and ported to most operating systems. The shape of each image is specified by a long string of numbers - a genetic code of sorts.
You can create your own FF with a simple freeware program called Apophysis.
Apophysis is like an adult version of Spirograph without all the pieces.
If ever stressed out, just put on Simon and Garfunkel’s greatest hits and create ElectricSheep.
Maybe some tea too?
Off the subject, just for the record, I have every intention on committing on a new Theme for my blog. But it seems to be taking longer than even I expected. I’m struggling, teetering between lack of motivation and complete chaos. All is well just not a very good recipe for accomplishment.
